Juan Navarette leads EPT Madrid to Day 2, Benyamine stacked

Wednesday, 14 March 2012

The PokerStars EPT Madrid has finished the second of its opening days and a massive field of 352 players meant that an extra room had to be hastily put into play and dealer shifts rearranged. After eight levels, 216 survived to Day 2.

Juan Navarette is the overall chip leader, having bagged up 173,200 from his 30,000 starting stack. Close behind in third place is former Full Tilt pro David Benyamine, with 154,500. That puts them as favourites to take home the €545,000 winner’s slice of the €2.3 million prize pool, though with 283 still left in contention it’s anyone’s game.

Other notable survivors who have their eye on the prize after making it through Day 1b include Nacho Barbero, Johnny Lodden and Fatima Moreira de Melo.
