Jonathan Duhamel assaulted at home

Thursday, 22 December 2011

Christmas is a time when children around the world look forward to an unexpected visitor. The same cannot be said of poor Jonathan Duhamel who was the victim of an assault by two intruders at his Quebec home yesterday.

Police wouldn't confirm the identity of the victim but Duhamel's agent, Philippe Jette told the Montreal Gazzette newspaper, “Let’s say that getting out of bed will be particularly hard tomorrow and that his Christmas photos won’t be the prettiest. But Jonathan got out without serious injuries.”

According to a number of sources, two men rang the 2010 World Champion's doorbell shortly after 9am on Wednesday, burst in once the door was opened and then attacked the 24-year-old. Duhamel called the police after the assailants had left and was treated in hospital for injuries received during the attack. No information has been released regarding what, if anything, was taken.

Duhamel has offered no comment on the incident but police are expected to release more details later today.
