Johnny Chan & Scott Stewart Still Alive at Macau

Johnny Chan & Scott Stewart Still Alive at Macau

Friday, 21 August 2009

The second day of the Asian Poker Tour Macau Main Event concluded yesterday evening (GMT) with 51 players remaining of the 192 that began. Aussie Millions 2009 champion Stewart Scott enjoyed a very successful day, narrowly beaten to the chip lead in the dying hands of the session by Eugene Teh.

Generally speaking, however, it was not a good day for the recognisable names – Tommy Le, Steve Yea and David “Chino” Rheem were all among the first to hit the rail as play began, shortly followed by Chau Giang, John Juanda, Liz Lieu and November Nine finalist James Akenhead.

Johnny Chan, however, managed to hold on despite some ups and downs and wound up with a slightly less-than-average stack of 37,000. Other notable names still in the field include Poker Pack members Steve Sung and JC Tran, the latter in 10th place.

The two fields from the first two days combine today for a starting count of 88 players, playing down to the 40th place – the money bubble.
