John Gudger Takes Down PartyPoker WPT National UK Milton Keynes

Despite the pre-Christmas rush occupying the minds of most people across Europe this weekend a healthy batch of pros and amateurs decided to visit The Casino Xscape MK in Milton Keynes for the WPT's latest National event.

Following on from the local series recent tournament fiesta in London, the £200 tournament welcomed a total of 292 across three starting flights and when the betting had finished it was John Gudgerwho was left on top.

Having qualified for the tournament via a $3 online satellite at PartyPoker, Gudger was able to cruise through to yesterday's finale with relative ease but when the action began he was far from the most dominant stack.
Indeed, when things got underway it was Richard Jwanczuk who unbagged the largest stack, however, that pile of chips soon slipped away as the field thinned.

Despite having the overnight chip lead, Jwanczuk couldn't maintain his footing in the early stages of the finale and, after watching the likes of Sunil Mistri and Liam Pettman hit the rail, he followed suit in sixth place.

Sending away Jwanczuk was the job of Gudger and that pot virtually secured him the title as it not only gave him a healthy helping of chips but the confidence to go on and dominate his final four opponents.

Indeed, despite Andrew Brisland's fifth place exit setting up a turbulent four-way battle, Gudger was eventually able to assert his dominance and by the time just three players remained he managed to put together a deadly one-two combination.

First to feel Gudger's knockout punch was Michael Rosaman when his Jh 3h was unable to find a way past pocket kings. After scooping that pot Gudger looked virtually unstoppable and within a few hands he clinched the title with just king-high after Sam Goodman made a mistimed all-in with Ts 7s on a 3c 6h 6c 3h 5s board.

With the final few chips now in his possession a hugely relieved Gudger was able to breakout a smile as he collected his winner's trophy and £12,750 top prize.
