Johannes Strassmann leads EPT Snowfest

Wednesday, 24 March 2010

A field of over 500 players has been whittled down to 85 over three days, with German PokerStars player Johannes Strassmann way out in front holding 747,000 – over 200,000 more than his closest competitors.

Daniel Negreanu, Nacho Barbero, Luca Pagano and Arnaud Mattern were some big names who failed to make the cut and hit the rail yesterday, though a number survived – trailing behind Strassmann’s monstrous stack were High Stakes Poker star Lex Veldhuis, Danish WSOPE winner Jesper Hougaard and Alex Kravchenko.

Out of the 549 players who entered on Day 1a and Day 1b, 259 returned for Day 2 and now Day 3 will commence with just 85 players remaining. The money bubble bursts in just five eliminations with 80 players guaranteed €5,260. The top prize is €445,000 with the final table being awarded at least €28,000.
