Jerry Yang, the winner of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, will join almost 200 online qualifiers from Pokerstars at the first ever live poker tournament to be held in China.

Yang will be a Pokerstars sponsored player in the Pokerstars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau: Asian Poker Open, which takes place between 22nd and 27th November.
The 2007 Main Event Champion burst onto the seen this year with his aggressive brand of poker which propelled him to the title, $8 million cash and into the top ten all-time tournament money winners.
Pokerstars have also announced that a huge number of players from around the world will be heading out to join Yang at the APPT Macau. 179 players from the United States, Europe, Australia, Korea and Japan have qualified for the tournament via online satellites, thus demonstrating that poker really has become a global phenomenon.
“The level of interest in the APPT Macau has been incredible, in less than 3 weeks we have 'satellited' in almost 200 of the thousands trying to qualify from across the world,” said Sarne Lightman, Director of Marketing for PokerStars Asia Pacific. “With Jerry Yang now confirmed to play, alongside Scotty Nguyen and Team PokerStars players including Joe Hachem, Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein, the APPT Macau will be the perfect showcase to introduce the sport of poker to a whole new audience in China.”
