Jennifer Tilly Snubs Oscars for Heads-Up Poker Tournament

For some, the opportunity to take a stroll down the red carpet at the Academy Awards and have your name hollered by the rabid press corps is a dream. For others, it’s something that they can take or leave – usually because they’ve already done it.

This was the case for once Academy Award nominated actress Jennifer Tilly who turned down an invitation to clap politely at overpaid colleagues and hammy acceptance speeches to play high stakes Texas Hold’em in Las Vegas instead. The former Woody Allen muse, last year won the World Series of Poker Ladies event, but didn’t fair so well last night during the National Heads-Up Poker Championship when she was knocked out in the first round of the one-on-one event, missing out on a prize of $1.5 million.
Even though she could gave joined her Hollywood pals in their glad handing and picking up goodie bags worth $60,000, Tilly still insists that she’s making more cash now then she ever did in front of the camera.
