Jeffrey Pollack resigns from WSOP position

Friday, 13 November 2009

World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack has announced his resignation from the post. The former NASCAR and NBA director gave no reason for his decision, prompting speculation around the poker world.

The immediate consensus is that the successful sporting mogul – who moved from being director of NASCAR to Vice-President of the NBA to the WSOP post – had a better offer in the pipeline and we’ll soon see him successfully co-ordinating other sporting events.

He should be remembered fondly by the poker community – he was in power during the worst period of poker (post-UIGEA) and managed to stabilise and steady the largest poker event for years. Good one, Jeffrey, and good luck in future.
