The 164-runner field may not have been great in number but it more than made up for it in quality. In the end it was Jeff Lisandro who outlasted a loaded final table, including five former bracelet winners, to claim the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi Lo World Championship.

Lisandro sealed his second bracelet in two weeks by beating Farzad Rouhani heads up. The Perth born professional collected a first prize of $431,656 taking his WSOP winnings past the $2.3m mark.

Dual-national Lisandro, sporting a fedora Malcolm Allison would have been proud of, requested the Italian anthem be played at his presentation ceremony. This contrasted with his first bracelet win this year when Advance Australia Fair was played.

The railbirds were urging on Doyle Bronson, who was challenging for a record equalling eleventh bracelet, but it wasn’t Texas Dolly’s day though as he busted out in seventh.

Other big names to make the money were Scotty Nguyen, Justin Smith, Mike Wattel and Anthony Rivera.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1. Jeff Lisandro - $431,656
2. Farzad Rouhani - $266,804
3. Mike Wattel - $176,605
4. Frank Mariani - $124,684
5. Yan Chen - $93,513
6. Abe Mosseri - $74,258
7. Doyle Brunson - $62,234
8. Justin Smith - $54,896
