Jeff Forrest wins WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals

Wednesday, 3 November 2010

Tom Marchese will have to wait a while longer to add a WPT title to his NAPT Venetian championship; he finished the Foxwoods World Poker Finals in third place leaving Jeff Forrest to defeat Dave Inselberg heads-up and take home the title and $548,752.

Inselberg began the final table by doubling up with a flopped two pair against the open-ended straight draw against Nikolai Yakovenko. This led to a chain reaction of big pots that lead Kevin Stammen to shove with Ah-Th and Inselberg’s A-Q held up to give him a huge stack.

Marchese doubled up Forrest before doubling back up to around even stacks of just under two million chips apiece before exiting in third place when A-K couldn’t hold against K-6; Forrest hit a six to send Marchese out in third and leave us heads-up.

Forrest began heads-up play with a chip lead of almost three to one; the action was over within the hour when Inselberg flopped top pair and a straight draw in a 3-bet pot and got the chips in. Forrest held Q-Q for the overpair and called, holding up to take down the tournament.
The final table placings and payouts were as follows:

1. Jeff Forrest - $548,752
2. Dave Inselberg - $325,608
3. Tom Marchese - $211,759
4. Nikolai Yakovenko - $170,773
5. Kevin Stammen - $128,650
6. Mohsin Charania - $104,741
