Jean-Paul Pasqualini leads WPT Amneville

While the WPT event at Foxwoods was coming to a close another World Poker Tour event was getting under way on this side of the Atlantic.

270 players bought into the €3,500 WPT Amneville in France yesterday and by the close of Day 1A it was Frenchman Jean-Paul Pasqualini who was in the lead with 200,000 chips.

A total of 112 players will be back for Day 2 but WPT London winner Jake Cody won't be one of them after running into the coolest of cold decks. After a raise and a re-raise the young Briton pushed all in. Cody can't have expected to be a poor third favourite with his pocket queens but that was exactly the case as his opponent's revealed pocket kings and pocket aces. Julie Marjollet's aces held up leaving Cody crippled. The EPT Deauville winner was eliminated minutes later when his Q10 couldn't overturn a pair of tens.

A host of top players, including Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, are expected for Day 1B which starts at 1pm UK time today. In addition to a cash prize, players will also be competing for a seat in the 2011 WPT Championship event worth $25,000.
