Jason Mershon has found an innovative way to get his World Series Main Event buy-in

For those of us not lucky enough to wear a sponsorship patch (and let’s face it that’s pretty much all of us) finding the buy-in for the WSOP Main Event can be a tricky business. Jason Mershon has come up with an intriguing way to avoid the satellite circus and get the $10,000.

The Californian semi-pro has put his day job in the music industry to good use by composing a song entitled “Playing Poker For A Living”. Mershon has released the song as a download with the first 15,000 buyers able to pick it up it for $1.49. He’ll then use the money raised as his WSOP Main Event buy-in.

Mershon has said that in return he will donate 50% of his winnings to the people who bought the song should he reach the final table this year. If all 15,000 downloads are bought that equates to around $300 should he win the big one. Not a massive amount but a decent ROI on a $1.49 layout.

Given Mershon’s shall we say limited tournament success (just $2,000 in tourney winnings to date) the chances of getting your money back appear limited.

The song is pretty awful but you’ve got to admire Mershon’s chutzpah. For details of how to download it click here.
