Jason Mercier heads up 19 remaining in NAPT Los Angeles

Tuesday, 16 November 2010

The inaugural PokerStars North American Poker Tour at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles has reduced an impressive field of 701 to just 19 players after three days of play. Somewhat unsurprisingly it is Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier who is one of the chip leaders.

Mercier began the day with 158,000 and quickly found two double-ups in a row with a small pair holding against a big ace for two consecutive hands. He kept accumulating chips and wound up bagging up 2,150,000 by the end of the day which is good for third in the chip counts.

Mercier trails behind 27-year-old Christopher DeMaci, a California resident who managed to accrue almost four million in chips which is the chip lead by a huge margin of almost 1.5m. Despite losing Phil Laak, Eric Haber and Tom Marchese on Day 3 we still have Team PokerStars Online pro George Lind; WSOP Main Event 15th place finisher Matt Affleck and Michael Binger.

The remaining players will each receive at least $18,000 but all eyes are on the NAPT Championship and a first prize of $725,000. The top five chip counts are as follows:

1. Christopher DeMaci – 3,783,000
2. Micah Raskin – 2,356,000
3. Jason Mercier – 2,150,000
4. Michael Binger – 2,026,000
5. Jacob Toole – 1,881,000
