Jason Mercier appearing on High Stakes Poker

Recently we reported that Andrew “good2cu” Robl was the latest addition to the eagerly-anticipated latest season of GSN’s High Stakes Poker to be aired in February 2010.

Jason Mercier, who at this point is almost certainly one of the best tournament Hold ‘em players in the world, revealed in his blog that he is stepping up to the plate and will appear on the show.

“After my pathetic exit in Day 4 of WPT Foxwoods, I headed off to Las Vegas to try to get on High Stakes Poker,” he wrote. “I was able to get on and had a lot of fun on the show. I look forward to watching the broadcast of it and seeing what everyone had.”

Mercier has had a string of incredible results in the past year – to name but a few; a third place at the $10,000 WPT PLO event at Festa al Lago ($31,040); winning the £2,500 EPT London event (£115,800); 4th at the WSOPE final table (£267,267); runner-up at EPT Barcelona (€27,200) and WSOP cashes worth $350,000 including a $1,500 PLO win.

He also mentioned light-heartedly in his blog that he had been diagnosed with FPS or Fancy Poker Syndrome after self destructing in a number of big tournaments when holding a decent sized stack. His most recent exploit consisted of a 6-bet jam with QJo for a 180bb pot in the EPT Vilamoura Main Event. Unfortunately it didn't quite get through as his opponent called him with KK.
