Jamie Gold Hosts Successful Charity Tournament

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jamie Gold continues in his role of poker ambassador – raising money for various charities by hosting charity poker tournaments amongst the rich and famous. Most recently he hosted a celebrity charity tournament on behalf of Children’s Institute Inc.

Celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Kevin Nealon, Joely Fisher, Mekhi Phifer, Cheri Oteri, Mimi Rogers, Allison Sweeney, Jennie Garth and Nicholas Gonzalez all entered the event to benefit children affected by domestic or school violence.

Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Cheryl Hines made the final table alongside talk show host Riki Lake before being eliminated and allowing Desperate Housewives stars Kevin Rahm and Tuc Watkins to battle it out for glory – Watkins eventually took it down.

Impressed with the way Jamie Gold has handled affairs since his 2006 Main Event victory, the nickname 'the Bono of Poker' has arisen from the depths of the UK's card rooms. Keep at it Jamie!
