James Bord wins Marrakech Poker Cup High Roller event

Wednesday, 13 October 2010

Inside of a month, James Bord has won two major tournament titles. The first came, as you know, in London when the former banker took down a 346-strong field at the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event to take home over £830,000.

Now he has followed it up just over three weeks later by winning the $50,000 High Roller event at the Marrakech Poker Cup in Morocco. Just 13 players entered the event but the fact that Bord beat out a final table including David Benyamine and Robert Mizrachi shows the quality of the field.

Bord took home $247,000 for his win and this takes his total live tournament earnings to over $1.6m. This time last month he had barely topped $200,000. Funny old game, isn’t it?

The payouts for the $50,000 High Roller were as follows:

1. James Bord — $247,000
2. Robert Mizrachi — $185,250
3. Mesbah Guerfi — $123,500
4. David Benyamine — $61,750
