JP Kelly second in chips at UKIPT Manchester final table

JP Kelly second in chips at UKIPT Manchester final table

Monday, 14 March 2011

The record-breaking 615-strong field at the UKIPT’s latest stop in Manchester is down to just eight players with online qualifier Mateusz Warowiec leading the field with two million chips bagged up for the final. He leads PokerStars Pro JP Kelly, who is second place on 1.71m going into today’s final.

Warowiec had a rollercoaster of a day for Day 3 yesterday; returning with just 81,000 chips he wound up getting all the right cards and making all the right moves to spin up his stack well into seven figures within the space of an hour. This puts him 250,000 ahead of JP Kelly for the final eight.

Kelly himself had a similar ride through Day 3, doubling his stack before being crippled and then doubling it again. He would be the runaway chip leader at this final had he not lost a big seven-figure pot with ten players remaining. The double bracelet-winner is seeking his first UKIPT title to add to his accolades.

Play resumes today at 1pm and despite Warowiec’s chip lead and JP Kelly’s poker chops, we’re picking Robert Angood for the win. Robert Angood. R. Angood. What a name for a final table.

The line-up for today, in order of seating, is as follows:

Seat 1. Mateusz Warowiec – 2,032,000
Seat 2. Owen Shiels 358,000
Seat 3. Michael Birt 472,000
Seat 4. Matthew McDerra 792,000
Seat 5. JP Kelly 1,751,000
Seat 6. Robert Angood 1,504,000
Seat 7. Paul Nash 1,018,000
Seat 8. Michael Fletcher 1,209,000
