Ivey’s Court Case Closed

Ivey’s Court Case Closed

Tuesday, 2 April 2013

Phil Ivey's marital battle with his ex-wife Luciaetta came to an end recently after the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that there was no bias in the couple's 2009 divorce case.

Having initially accepted a divorce settlement which netted her $180,000 a month, Luciaetta eventually disputed the ruling in 2011, filing an appeal claiming that Ivey's campaign contribution to Judge Bill Gonzalez biased the case in his favour.

The appeal also stated that Ivey stopped paying spousal support at the same time his monthly payments from Full Tilt (around $920,000) stopped because of Black Friday.

However, having heard the arguments from both sides, the Nevada Supreme Court recently ruled in favour of Ivey's attorney who stated that Luciaetta had already become "a millionaire following the uncontested divorce".

Moreover, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Ivey's contributions were not significant enough to warrant a disqualification of the case.
