Ivey busto at APPT Macau

Friday, 25 November 2011

All eyes were on a patchless Phil Ivey going into Day 2 of the APPT event in Macau. Unfortunately for railbirds hoping for a spectacular return to the tournament arena, Ivey's appearance was a relatively brief one. The eight-time WSOP bracelet winner busted shortly before the close when a short stacked three bet with Kc9h couldn't come from behind to beat his opponent's AdJc.

Even with Ivey gone there is plenty of quality amongst the 105 survivors returning for Day 3. Leading the way is Nathaniel Seet on 774,400 followed by Dan Park, David Steike and Tsugunari Toma. Notables still in the hunt for the HK$3,772,000 (around US$484,000) first prize include Johnny Chan, Jose 'Nacho' Barbero, Randy Lew and Terrence Chan who all have above average stacks.

70 of the 105 day 3 starters will make the money with the min cash set at just under US$6,000.

And as for Ivey? We've heard that there's a pretty serious cash game involving Sam Trickett, Durrrr and some wealthy Chinese businessmen!
