Ivey among WPT Five Diamond leaders

Ivey among WPT Five Diamond leaders

Saturday, 4 December 2010

The field at Day 1 of the WPT Five Diamond at Bellagio was a veritable who's who of top class poker talent with Chau Giang, Vanessa Rousso, Jason Mercier, Scotty Nguyen, Erik Seidel, Barry Greenstein and Freddy Deeb among the 391 starters in the $10,000 buy-in event.

By the close of the opening day the field had been whittled down to 287 with 2010 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure finalist Ryan D'Angelo leading the way. Antonio Esfandiari is very handily placed, as is Kirk Morrison. Looming large though is the dominant presence of Phil Ivey who ended the day fifth in the chip counts.

The great man made a fashionably late entrance but completely crushed his table to build a very ominous looking stack.

The leading chip counts are as follows:

1 Ryan D'Angelo190,000
2 Amirouddine Alibay 185,000
3 Albert Kim 157,100
4 Antonio Esfandiari 150,000
5 Phil Ivey 143,200
6 Mike Gracz 138,000
7 Matt Keikoan 133,700
8 Steven Burkholder 133,200
9 Kirk Morrison 130,000
10 Justin Young 130,000

The Day 2 action gets under way at 8pm UK time.
