Ivan's Not So Terrible High Roller Victory

Friday, 20 December 2013

With the action in Prague gradually coming to a close another young player, Ivan Soshnikov, will be heading into the Christmas period with something to smile about after an impressive victory in EPT Prague's High Roller event.

Despite never having won more than €4,800 from a live tournament in his short career, Ivan was happy to jump in at the deep end earlier this week and anted up €10,300 to play alongside some of the toughest players in the world.

Surrounded by 136 fearless pros, Ivan appeared a picture of calm as the tournament got under way and by the time he found himself at the final table he slowly became the man to beat.

Indeed, as the likes of Vanessa Selbst Andy Seth, Mike McDonald and Thomas Muhlocker hit the rail, Ivan continued to push the action and rake in chips.

By the time just three players remained the young Russian was able to kick things up a gear and deliver a one-two combination to secure his first EPT title.

First to feel Ivan's power was Dmitry Yurasov before Olivier Busquet found himself on the losing side of a pocket tens vs. pocket fours coup. With the demise of his final opponent behind him, a delighted Ivan was able to scoop €382,050 which was almost 100x more than his previous biggest cash.
