It's Albright on the night at GUKPT Plymouth

Monday, 9 July 2012

Rod Albright has won the latest leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT). The financial planner pocketed £11,900, the biggest cash score of his poker career, as well as a seat in the Champion of Champions event after a marathon session in Plymouth over the weekend.

With players starting with 1,000 big blind stacks there was always going to be plenty of play and so it proved with the first elimination not arriving until four and a half hours in. The deep structure continued on the final day with Albright and Fei Yue playing well into the early hours of Monday morning to seal the title.

With the blinds at a massive 50,000/100,000 Albright finally sealed victory holding 6-4 on a Q-6-4-6-2 board. Yue took home £8,450 for his efforts.

The final table positions and payouts from the 76 runner field were as follows:

1st Rod Albright £11,900
2nd Fei Yue £8,450
3rd Joanne Ramsden £5,600
4th Arkadiusz Sinkiewicz £3,300
5th Vinny Calenti £2,650
6th Phil Pattenden-Oxenham £2,000
7th Alan Parsons £1,600
8th Buck Taylor £1,350
9th Ben Young £1,150

Bolton's G Casino is the venue for the next GUKPT event. The side action gets under way on Sunday 15th July with the £500 Deepstack Six Max Main Event starting at 2pm on Friday 20th July. Qualify online at Blue Square Poker.
