Isaac Haxton wins Superstar Showdown

Wednesday, 14 March 2012

Isaac “philivey2694” Haxton once again defeated Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in the 2,500 hand Superstar Showdown, this time by an even smaller sum as Haxton took home just $5,093 more than his opponent.

In their last match, Haxton bested Blom out of over $40,000 at $50/$100, this time the pair played $100/$200 for 2,500 hands. Though Blom lost the match, each player had a $300,000 bankroll that could have been won by their opponent.

Blom resumed the contest $140,000 to the good but it didn't take long for Haxton to wipe out the deficit and grind out a lead of $80,000. Isildur1 wasn't finished though and managed to level things up shortly before the scheduled close after turning a full house to crush Haxton's made flush. It looked like there would be a decisive winner soon after with both players all in but both had made full houses holding K10 meaning the stalemate ensued. The pair continued to exchange small blows but couldn't deliver a knockout blow.

A win is a win though with Haxton defeating Blom for the second time in the SuperStar Showdown. We hope that a round three is in the offing.
The Swede doesn't have long to wait until his next big match either. Blom takes on English high stakes pro Alexander "Kanu7" Millar at 4pm GMT this Sunday.
