The €1,500 main event featured a strong field which included Joe Beevers, fellow Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman, and EPT Baden and two-time GUKPT winner Julian Thew. Despite the best of the British being flown in for a raid on the Emerald Isle, the local players dominated the payouts.
Mike Lacey of Green Joker Poker said of Kearney's win, 'With nearly half the chips in play a deal was brokered after Joe Beevers was eliminated by Gary Clarke in 6th. Dara took home €47,200 for his efforts, he led from wire to wire as he was the chip leader after day 1 and day 2.'
The top 10 finishers were:
1st Dara O'Kearney €47,200
2nd Gary Clarke €34,100
3rd Fran Egan €28,600
4th Lloyd O'Farrell €26,700
5th Barry Hand €23,400
6th Joe Beevers €8000
7th Marc McDonnell €6000
8th Tony Baitson €4700
9th Robbie McCormack €3900
10th Peter Murphy €3200
The Deepstack Championship event gave players 50,000 chips and a one-hour clock in a bid to maximise the amount of play and skill required to take down the title. The event lasted a full five days, and O’Kearney now succeeds previous winner Jen Mason as the Champion.
