Irish poker tournament organisers Poker Ireland have teamed up with Danish online site Mermaid Poker to launch what they hope will be the largest tournament to take place in Europe, the International Poker Open.

Irish poker tournament organisers Poker Ireland have teamed up with Danish online site Mermaid Poker to launch what they hope will be the largest tournament to take place in Europe, the International Poker Open.
The Open will take place on October 6 and 7 at the Royal Dublin Society Shelbourne Hall and the Jackpot Club in Dublin featuring a buy-in of $207.
Poker Ireland said that it hopes to set the record with the lower buy-in and its ability to host up to 1,000 players. The previous record for a European poker event was 2007’s Irish Open with 708 entrants while the European Poker Tour affair in Monte Carlo in March missed setting the record by three players.
Organisers have guaranteed a prize pot of $138,000 if over 700 players take part in the Open and Stephen McLean will serve as Tournament Director along with Luke Ivory, Derek ‘The Clamper’ Williams and Pamela Morris.
