Proudly boasting the title of 2009’s first major poker tournament, the PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship’s final table was decided last night after a gruelling battle in Galway, Island.

Chip leader at the final table of the €2,000 event is Rory Brennan, 23, from Dublin. He makes up one of five Irish at the final table as well as two English players and one Pole. Brennan has recently been making waves in Irish poker alongside his friend and Ladbrokes Poker Million runner-up Eoghan O’Dea.

The chip counts for the final table are as follows:

In addition to the €2,000 Main Event a €750 event was played out and won by Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott. Surinder Sunar came runner-up. Also, the €330 charity event Poker for the Homeless sees €100 from each buy-in go to charity. Previous winners of the event include Noel Furlong.

One player taking part is Mike Sexton who said: “Padraig Parkinson and?all those who extend a hand to help the unfortunate should take a bow and?be proud of their willingness to help others.  Fortunately, many poker?players are joining in and giving time and money to worthwhile?charities.”
