Galway’s Eglington Casino will be the venue for the inaugural Irish Omaha Championship that takes place from 4th to 7th March 2010.
Top billing goes to the three-day €1,100 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha main event. The other main attraction is a €1,000 buy-in heads up championship with the field restricted to 16 players. For those players who can’t get enough of No Limit Hold’em there will be a pair of side events with buy-ins of €150 and €250. A host of top Irish talent has been pencilled in already with Padraig Parkinson, Marty Smyth, Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth, Jon “Skalie” Kalmar, Paul Marrow and Lawrence Gosney all set to play. Former Irish Poker Champion and recent UKIPT winner Padraig Parkinson said “With the popularity of Omaha growing constantly the Irish poker calendar has been crying out for an event like this.” Weekly satellites will be held at The Eglington throughout February.
