Internet poker enters the fast lane this weekend — literally — thanks to a unique deal that will see ads for one of the world’s top online poker rooms reach the legions of fans of the Montréal Grand Prix.
In a move that showcases the amazing growth of online poker — and the growing trend to market across sports and entertainment categories — 30-second commercials for InterPoker (www.interpoker.com) and InterCasino (www.intercasino.com) will air during the Montréal Grand Prix and at other prominent sporting events throughout the year.
“This deal is an indication of the popularity of poker in Québec, and all over Canada,” said Michael Caselli, editor of Bluff, North America’s largest poker publication.
“Poker is catching on like wildfire — and that gives InterPoker the resources and the confidence to take its message to one of the world’s premier sporting events,” said Peter Marcus, a spokesman for InterPoker. “Being part of the Formula One is part of InterPoker’s formula for explosive growth.”
In addition to the Grand Prix coverage, InterPoker has tapped into North American homes with the television program Caribbean Poker Classic, which has been aired on Rogers SportsNet in Canada as well as channels in the U.K. The CPC chronicles the trials and successes of InterPoker online poker players as they battle for their share of almost $1 million in a high-pressure, high-stakes poker tournament set in the idyllic island paradise of St Maarten.
“The new commercials for InterPoker and InterCasino look excellent on the small screen — and we can’t wait to see them on the big screen in Montréal this weekend,” Marcus said.
