Friday, 16 October 2009

BoylePoker.com’s International Poker Open starts today and it could be heading into the record books. Organisers of the three-day Irish Festival are hopeful that the tournament will be the largest to be held outside of the United States.

Over 1,400 runners will be heading to the Regency Hotel in Dublin for the $225+$25 buy in event. Players, including home favourites Padraig Parkinson and Marty Smyth will be competing for a prize pool expected to top the $325,000 mark.

Smyth heads the betting market at 175/1 alongside Julian Gardner, Keith Hawkins and Luke ‘__Fullflush1__' Schwartz . Neil Channing and Surinder Sunar are 200/1, former WSOP Main Event winner Noel Furlong is 300/1 with snooker champion Ken Doherty at 400/1 and Olympic boxing gold medalist Michael Carruth at 500/1.

Head of BoylePoker.com Paul Spillane said "The IPO is one of the highlights of the poker year with a massive international field, terrific structure, huge prize pool and all the fun you'd expect from a weekend in Dublin.”
