International Poker Open seat on offer to Irish Poker Awards voters

Thursday, 7 October 2010

Irish poker fans have been given another incentive to vote for their favourite players, poker rooms and personalities in this month's Irish Poker Awards as one lucky voter will be awarded a seat at the International Poker Open. All players have to do is visit TheIrishPokerAwards.com and vote and they'll be entered into a special draw.

The Irish Poker Awards ceremony takes place at Dublin's Regency Hotel on Sunday 17th October and will honour the best and the brightest in the Irish game. Categories up for grabs include best cash, online and tournament players as well as best cardroom, blogger and all round player. A full list of nominees and details of how to vote can be found at TheIrishPokerAwards.com.

1,440 players took part in last year's Boyle Poker International Poker Open making it the biggest event held outside of the USA. This year's tournament, which kicks off on Friday 15th October, looks set to be just as big with an estimated prize pool of €250,000.

“The International Poker Open is what poker is supposed to be about,” said renowned commentator Jesse May. “You get to be a part of the main event for the price of a satellite. Last year, I had so much fun that I booked my ticket for next year well before level two.

“It's such a great weekend. The only thing as much fun as still being in the tournament is being at the bar the day after you get knocked out. It’s a great weekend full of great poker, great people and plenty of stories at the bar.”

All IPO participants are welcome to join the party at The Irish Poker Awards ceremony between 7pm and 9pm on Sunday 17th October.
