Friday, 23 April 2010

BoylePoker.com has announced details of one of the highlights of the Irish Poker Calendar. The 2010 International Poker Open will take place at Regency Hotel in Dublin from 15th to 17th October.

The €180+€20 event is expected to have a prize pool of €250,000 with sponsors Boylepoker.com sweetening the pot to the tune of €20,000. Players will also get the opportunity to boost their stack by 2,000 chips by accumulating VIP Points at Boylepoker.

The first chance to qualify for the event, which is hugely popular with top pros and small limit grinders alike, comes tonight in the form of a €1+€0.10 freezeout tonight at 7.45pm with a pair of seats up for grabs.

Paul Spillane, Head of Poker at the site said, "Last year we set the record for the largest live tournament field ever assembled in Europe. With innovative twists like the additional VIP chips and EUR20,000 added value, we're confident the 2010 event will prove just as popular and we expect another sell out field."

Jesse May, the "Voice of Poker" said the IPO is what poker is supposed to be about. "You get to be a part of the main event for the price of a satellite," said May. "Last year I had so much fun, I booked my ticket for next year well before level two! It's such a great weekend, the only thing as much fun as still being in the tournament, is being at the bar the day after you get knocked out! A great weekend, full of great poker, great people, and plenty of stories at the bar."

German Markus Sippe won the title last year, collecting a first prize of $62,250.
