Injecting New Life into Poker

Injecting New Life into Poker

Mike Caro might have written the definitive book on poker tells but a New York doctor is hoping to redefine what players call “their poker face” with the help of medical science.

Using a combination of Botox and facial fillers, Dr. Jack Berdy is hoping to give live players the “ability to hide any sign of facial emotion” according to an article in the New York based, Huffington Post.

Dubbed “Pokertox”, Berdy hopes that it will become the next growth industry as poker fiends look to eliminate any facial twitches that might reveal the strength of their hand.

The injections work by making certain areas of the face appear rigid or filled out, thus, either masking a twitch or giving the impression of a false tell.

According to the article the idea was born out of Berdy’s love for medicine and gambling, but so far “no one has signed up for his service”.

Whether or not the idea will take off remains to be seen but it would certainly make an interesting spectacle seeing the likes of Doyle Brunson and Tom Dwan queuing up at their local clinic for a quick “Pokertox” injection.
