Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies makes top ten Finnish earners

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies may be down a significant sum for October at the high stakes games on Full Tilt but he can take comfort in the fact that earned one of the biggest salaries in Finland last year. The €1.9m he supposedly made puts him in ninth place behind lots of successful businessmen – the sum is from US sites only as EU sites are non-taxable in Finland.

Sahamies is one of the most well-known players on Full Tilt Poker and is considered to be one of the world’s best Omaha players. He has had success in both live tournaments and cash games but is most well known for his online high stakes cash exploits and multi-million dollar swings.

In 2009, the year in question, Ziigmund’s recorded earnings on Full Tilt topped $3,000,000 albiet down from a high of $6.85m after Isildur1 made his presence known in the high stakes games. Since tracking sites began recording the games Ziigmund is up almost three million in total at Full Tilt Poker with a high of $6.85m and a low point of - $2.5m.

Ziigmund's big wins don't mean he's the ninth richest man in Finland of course as the list doesn't include any capital assets. Even so, his 2009 winnings were a tremendous performance.
