Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies loses; leaves PokerStars and Tilt

Wednesday, 20 April 2011

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, a staple of the nosebleed games on Full Tilt Poker (and more recently PokerStars) is not a US resident but the fast-talking, big-drinking Finn has announced to Finnish website pokerisivut.com that he will no longer play on either site following Black Friday.

It’s no coincidence that in Sahamies’s last pre-Black Friday session he lost over $225,000 on Full Tilt and PokerStars with around $90,000 off the losses coming on the latter site under his Ilari FIN screenname. On Full Tilt he took on NoParasan at $200/$400 and lost a couple of the biggest pots played last week.

The most brutal was on a flop of 9c-6s-4s where Ziigmund 3-bet the flop and called a shove for a $204,000 pot; his 6-6-4-2 was up against 9-9-8-5 with a flush draw, not only one of the few hands that has him dominated but also with enough draws to leave Ziigmund as dead as you can get in Omaha. He lost both runs of the turn and river.

Sahamies says that now he will only play in live games or on European websites, though we’ve heard similar from him before. He says he doesn’t know what will happen to the big nosebleed games but that maybe a European site will be the new host of nosebleed action.
