Ian Frazer wins the latest leg of the PartyPoker Premier League

Well it certainly makes a change not having to write “and the winner is Phil Laak”. That’s due to the fact that the Unabomber wasn’t even playing in Leg 5 (but given his recent run you still wouldn’t put it past him). Props to Ian Frazer though for taking the win.

The 50-year-old Londoner worked is way through a line up that included Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Phil Hellmuth, Tony G, JC Tran, Daniel Negreanu and Italian online qualifier Giovanni Safina to set up a heads up battle with Luke Schwartz.

Frazer sealed the win after his pocket kings held up against FullFlush’s A9. The raiser collected $32,000 and 16 points for the win with Schwartz taking $22,000. Credit should also go out to qualifier Giovanni Safina who now has a guaranteed $108,000 in prize money, not bad for a €100 investment.

All eyes turn to the lower echelons of the table today with the bottom five players, Roland de Wolfe, Vanessa Rousso, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Tony G all involved. Everyone still has a mathematical chance of qualifying for the final table so it’s all to play for.
