Huy Nguyen wins Choctaw WSOP Circuit event for $233,000

The World Series of Poker Circuit Event attracted an awesome field of 808 players, including the likes of Tom McEvoy, TJ Cloutier, Tommy Vedes and Allen Kessler. In the end, it was Huy Nguyen who took down the event and earned $232,706 for his efforts.

Nguyen was chip leader heading into the final table and made excellent use of his stack to beat last woman standing Traci Brown heads-up. She arrived at the final table as the shortest stack and played exceptionally well to finish runner-up to Nguyen.

In the final hand there was nothing she could do – finding Ad-9d she committed all her chips only to run into A-Q. Nguyen’s hand held and reinforced the consensus that the last name “Nguyen” is the winningest name in poker. Since “Phil” is the winningest forename in poker then we’re off to legally change our name to Philip Nguyen.

The full final table payouts were as follows:
1.Huy Nguyen - $232,706
2.Traci Brown - $143,462
3.Shallum Lynch - $105,764
4.Jeff Gibralter - $78,828
5.Bobby Hempkins - $59,537
6.Drazen Ilich - $45,552
7.Victor Haynes - $35,290
8.Andrew Watson - $27,680
9.Robert Cheung - $21,979
