Huck Seed win NBC Heads Up Championship

Huck Seed win NBC Heads Up Championship

Monday, 9 March 2009

Seed who had cashed in all four previous NBC Heads Up Championships, took the best of 3 match final 2-0, sealing the victory when his K-7 beat Rousso’s J-10 on a K-8-3-10-5 board.

The eventual winner started the final day by beating David Oppenheim in the quarter final before seeing off Sammy Farha in an epic semi final. In the longest match in the tournament, Seed’s 10c8c flushed on the river to knock out Farha with his AK.

Rousso, attempting to become the first female to win the title, navigated her way through an extremely tough field of Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, 2007 champion Paul Wasicka, Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier before falling just short against the 40 year old Seed.

With an 18 win and 4 loss record in the tournament, Seed now joins Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson and Phil Hellmuth as WSOP Main Event winners who have also won the NBC Heads Up crown.
