Milwaukee's Best Light, presenting sponsor of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and host of the Main Event's inaugural 'Bubble Playoff,' awarded a seat to the 2007 WSOP to lucky Californian Hoa Manh Nguyen.
The Bubble Playoff, a single-table poker event, gave the final 11 players eliminated 'out of the money' in this year's Main Event a second chance at a payday. Poker skill and a little luck helped Nguyen claim the seat for next year's Main Event, valued at $10,000, along with a year's supply of Milwaukee's Best Light beer.
Nguyen, from Sunnyvale, California, thought his WSOP experience was through for the year after being eliminated on Friday. However, as one of the final 11 players eliminated, he was officially on the 'Bubble' and the new playoff format awaited him.
'Obviously I was disappointed with how my day ended Friday,' said Nguyen. 'Particularly because I was three players out of the money in last year's Main Event. But when I learned of the Bubble Playoff, I knew I had another chance to walk away with something – and I did!”
