Hit squad hit the spot at the GUKPT in Walsall

Hit squad hit the spot at the GUKPT in Walsall

Saturday, 7 March 2009

After near misses at Plymouth, Luton and London, the Hit Squad’s Sunny Chattha finally hit the jackpot, winning the Walsall leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour last weekend.

Chattha outmanoeuvred a strong final table including former Gala Casino Poker Tour winner Steve Holden, Sen Man Ung, fellow Hit Squad member James Akenhead, Mickey Wernick, Alan Trueick, John Miller and Aaron Barry. After a lengthy heads up battle with Joe Grech, the 23-year old Londoner claimed his first GUKPT title and the £88,150 first prize.

Chattha’s victory is the latest in a long line of impressive performances from Hit Squad members. Praz Bansi has been victorious on the GUKPT and fellow Hit Squaders James Akenhead, Karl Mahrenholz and Sunny’s brother Chaz have all made main event final tables. Success appears to be contagious as Chaz has just final tabled in the £250 London Poker Masters event at The International.

With 3 cashes at the World Series in Vegas last year and a string of near misses closer to home Chattha’s first place finish is long overdue. Commenting on his recent run Chattha said "All the bad beats were worth it and I’m happy to have notched up another victory for the Hit Squad."
