High-stakes pro questioned in New York raids

Wednesday, 17 April 2013

Police in New York carried out a series of raids yesterday following months of investigations into a private high-stakes poker operation that was allegedly worth millions of dollars.

The operation was reportedly a consequence of insider reports suggesting that the games were being run by figured from the Russian mafia with one of those caught up in the stings being former WPT champion Vadim Trincher.

Officials contend that the operation serves as a front for money laundering with Trincher being heavily linked alongside alleged Russian crime boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov.

The case has piqued the general public’s interest due to the long list of professional poker players, celebrities and high-profile New York residents reportedly caught up in the action including Justin ‘BoostedJ’ Smith, Peter Feldman, Abe Mosseri and Bill Elder.
