Whilst we’re talking about online players who are doing well at the moment, there’s been plenty of high stakes online action over at Ladbrokes Poker lately.
According to the website ‘High Stakes Database’, there’s been a lot of action on the $25/$50 and $50/$100 tables. Danish poker star Peter Jepsen (whose online handle is Zupp_3) has been doing rather well, winning his fair share of monster pots.
One of the big ones came heads up, and in a particularly sick manner. Jepsen was playing $50/$100 heads-up No-Limit Hold'em against a player called sidepot. Raising from the button to $350 from the button, the Dane called sidepot’s re-raise to $1,500.
The flop came a eight high, sidepot bet just over half of the pot, and Jepsen called. The turn brought a Jack and sidepot bet again, this time a more substantial $5,000. Jepsen moved in for an extra $18,522, and sidepot called the all-in. River Jack seemed like a brick to sidepot’s pocket Aces, until Jepsen showed that the river had improved his hand from the already-winning trip Jacks to quads.
There has been a fistful of crazy pots on some of the higher level tables at Ladbrokes, and it seems a few of the bigger cash players are starting to come back to the English site. At this rate, they might even compete with Ivey, Hansen and Matusow’s splashing about over on Full Tilt.
