Hernandez Maintains WPT Borgata Lead

Wednesday, 29 January 2014

Lazaro Hernandez maintained his place at the head of the chip counts at WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open yesterday but he needed a big slice of luck to do so.

The start of day leader eliminated Shannon Shorr just before the close, coming from behind with KQ to beat Shorr's AK. That 380,000 pot helped Hernandez to finish the day with 753,000 putting him just ahead of Matt Haugen (735,000), Tyler Patterson (618,000) and Dan Heimiller (556,000).

190 of the 1,229 starters remain with Chad Brown, Dan O'Brien, Faraz Jaka, Isaac Barron and Andy Frankenberger in the upper echelons of the leader board.

Joining them today in the quest for the $842k prize pool will be Amnon Filippi, Noah Schwartz and Matt Stout.
