Tuesday, 28 January 2014

While European players were focussing their attention on Deauville and the latest leg of the EPT, players across the pond were heading to New Jersey for the Borgata Winter Open.

A massive field of 1,228 runners took to the tables during the two opening flights making its the second largest event in the history of the World Poker Tour.

657 of those starters are still in the hunt for a bumper payday with Lazaro Hernandez (258,175), Todd Rebello (229,825) and Robert Boyko (209,500) leading the way heading into day two.

As expected, plenty of notable names took to the Borgata tables with John Racener, Matt Stout, Kathy Liebert, Eric Baldwin, Faraz Jaka, Tony Dunst and Jeff Madsen all building above average stacks.

The in-form Vanessa Selbst tops the list of high profile exits with Chino Rheem, Jonathan Little and Bryn Kenney joining her on the rail.
