Have your say in the nominations for this year’s Poker Hall Of Fame

Thursday, 28 May 2009

If none of the candidates for the forthcoming local and European elections fill you with inspiration then you could always turn your attention to Las Vegas. Nominations are currently taking place for the latest batch of inductees to the Poker Hall of Fame.

Timed to coincide with the start of this year’s World Series, the organising committee is welcoming nominations from the public for the first time.

From now until 2 July the public can visit http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/pokerhalloffame/halloffamevoting.asp and register their nomination for a deserving candidate of their choice Nominated players must have played poker against acknowledged top competition, played for high stakes, played consistently well, gained the respect of peers and stood the test of time. Non-players can also gain entry if they have contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.

Once the public have chosen, the 16 living members of the Hall of Fame (whose number include Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Amarillo Slim Preston) will decide which two players will gain entry into the exclusive club. Dewey Tomko and Harry Orenstein, who patented the hole card camera, were inducted in 2008. The early front runner to gain one of this year’s berths is Mike Sexton.
