A massive £100,000 guaranteed prize pool is up for grabs at Coventry's Ricoh Arena next month, all for the princely sum of £100+£20.
The GUKPT Goliath tournament takes place from 24th to 28th August 2011 with organisers hoping to break the European record of over 1,500 runners. The David who conquers this Goliath will pocket a first prize of at least £25,000. It's not just poker players who stand to gain either as 25% of the registration fee will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care, who are a charity partner to both the Coventry City Football Club and Grosvenor Casinos. Stacks start at 25,000 with an initial 40-minute clock which will extend to an hour on the closing day. There should be plenty of play on that final day with a minimum average starting stack of 30 big blinds. The Goliath is a re-entry event so anyone who busts out on one day can try again on another. The full tournament schedule is as follows:Day 1A - Weds 24th Aug Day 1B - Thurs 25th Aug Day 1C - Friday 26th Aug Day 2 - Sat 27th Aug Final Day - Sun 28th Aug A series of side events are also scheduled, as is a team event with details set to be announced in the near future.
