Harry Lodge Wins In Nottingham

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

University student Harry Lodge is £60,000 richer this week after winning the main event of the 2015 Sky Poker Six-Max UK Poker Championships at Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn early Monday morning.

After lining up alongside 513 other entrants, 21-year-old Lodge managed to enter the final 16 on Sunday with the second largest chip stack.

Comfortable with his position and content to let the field fight it out among themselves in the lead up to the final table, Lodge looked supremely confident as the end drew closer.

Paul McTaggart became the first casualty at the final table and Lodge continued to stand firm as more players subsequently fell. However, the economics student soon felt under pressure but was saved by a successful all-in with just four players left.

Allowing Richard Hawes to do most of the bidding before the two found themselves heads-up, Lodge was able to grind out a result in a tough back-and-forth exchange with his opponent.

In the end the student grinder was able to seize the advantage and land the top prize as his pocket fives struck lucky against Hawes' pocket jacks. After making a set on the turn, Lodge got out of his seat, shook his fallen opponent's hand and smiled brightly as the 2015 Sky Poker Six-Max UK Poker Championships trophy and £60,000 were pushed his way.
