Gus Hansen is said to have won a staggering $1,000,000 in 24 hours, which is possibly the most won in any 24 hour period ever. However, there are rumours that he subsequently went on full Tilt, and gave quite a lot of it back to other online poker fans through wild play.
2007 has been Hansen’s year; he joined Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda and Erik Seidel as one of online poker room Full Tilt’s professional players. The Great Dane, as the Danish player Hansen is also known, found a sponsor, held the chip lead at the WSOP and gave an excellent performance at the Aussie Millions. In the month prior to the World Series of Poker he amassed another $1,000,000 (then a personal best) playing Pot Limit Omaha, which is generally his game of choice.
However, one of the significant things that make the Dane great is that he has managed his increasing poker fame with such flair. He has a good blog and is active on the forums, particularly www.highstakesdb.com.
Full Tilt must be delighted with this news as they are busy promoting the site, which still accepts US players, with good bonuses and online tournaments with prizes that include packages for live events. Another record was set when 20,000 runners took part in PokerStars Sunday $100,000. Lynna1 earned $20,000 for the $11 buy-in.
