Hansen, Hachem, leading Aussie Millions $100k event

Monday, 23 January 2012

While the $100,000 Challenge at the Aussie Millions saw a smaller field than last year (22 players instead of 2011’s 38), that wasn’t surprising. Despite this it created a buzz as it saw Gus Hansen, Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey return to the felt.

Alas, neither Dwan nor Ivey lasted the day to make the final eight but Gus Hansen did so with aplomb. The recent big winner in Macau takes the chip lead to the final table, just ahead of second-place Joe Hachem.

Also at the final are Sorel Mizzi and defending champion Sam Trickett, though he has the least amount of chips. Half the remaining field get paid with the top four finishers guaranteed AU$242,000 and the winner set to take home AU$1,012,000.
