Hacker faces jail after admitting stealing chips

Wednesday, 2 February 2011

A computer hacker from Devon is facing a jail sentence after admitting to stealing chips from virtual poker site and Facebook favourite Zynga.

29-year-old Ashley Mitchell from Devon appeared at Exeter Crown Court this week and admitted five counts of hacking as well as asking for a further 41 offences to be taken into consideration.

Mitchell hacked into Zynga's website, transferred 400 billion gaming chips, then sold them on the black market for an alleged £53,000 profit. Mitchell faces a substantial jail term for what judge Philip Wassall described as 'sophisticated' offences.
