Gus Hansen up $2m in six weeks at Full Tilt Poker high stakes

Monday, 14 February 2011

The Great Dane is at it again as his trademark swings have taken a fairly unusual turn in an upward direction. He is up over $2,000,000 at Full Tilt Poker playing primarily nosebleed stakes Omaha at the $500/$1,000 CAP tables. He ran this up largely last week, beating opponents such as Daniel “jungleman12” Cates to the tune of $1.3m.

Hansen had a similar run in the early months of 2010 as well. Unfortunately, he ended that year a seven-figure loser and will be hoping to keep this particular run going for as long as possible. Omaha has been the game of choice for the high stakes online crew recently; Phil Galfond and Patrik Antonius played the largest pot of the weekend at the $500/$1,000 uncapped PLO tables.

Antonius raised to $3,000 and Galfond made it $9,000 then called a 4-bet to $27,000. He then check-shoved a Jh-Td-6d flop with Q-9-8-7 for the massive straight draw versus A-A-8-8 for Antonius. The pot was run twice and Antonius held up against the big draw to take a pot worth a quarter of a million dollars.
